Import Metadata
hi Everyone
I have been using calibre for the past two years to manage a whole bunch of books in pdf format. These were incorrectly scanned in from physical files. There are about 3500 entries. Recently we added the physical library component. I have an excel spreadsheet with the correct metadata for the physical books. Is there any way for me to import said metadata into custom columns, linked to the existing entries? For instance, in calibre i have a book (let's call it Book A), now i want to add all Book A's physical library metadata to it's entries. The custom columns are already made and empty, awaiting the data from the Excel sheet. There will be some entries i the excel sheet that need to create "empty" books, like the Import List does. The Import List Plugin ALMOST does this, except it doesn't seem to want to import into custom columns. Thanks for any help |

Solved it
![]() It would seem that i was hasty... When using Import List, your Title and Author fields MUST be populated, i.e. Non-blank. This i did not know and accidentally found this out. So, for future reference: It is possible to update your metadata using a CSV file by using the Import List plugin. Your CSV file May have empty cells/entries, just not in the Title and Author categories, as the plugin cannot read the entry as a book then. Hope this helps someone. |
