Calibre Pauses

Is anyone else having problems with Calibre Pauses. I even rebuilt my PC because of this issue and it hasn't helped.

First Spec: Intel I7-6700K, 32GB, Samsumg 950 Pro as boot disk and calibre library. Windows 10
Library Size: 395 (also happens on larger libraries - but I am using a new small one for testing)
Calibre Version: Latest 64bit

The symptoms are that calibre pauses for a second or two every 15-30 seconds or so. I am working my way through the books correcting / making tidy the Authors, Titles and Series. If for example I start at the top f the library and cursor down rapidly - this works for a while and then pauses, then continues.
If I am editing, I may highlight some text, [cut], tab and paste. But between the cut and the paste there is a pause which means I make mistakes. I may end up clicking twice on a title which opens the book rather than bring up the field for editing

Its been happening for a while now - and I have updated hoping the problem would go away - but it hasn't

This does not happen to anything else on the PC - just calibre

Any ideas?

Got a lot more books on a LOT less (processor) of a W10 computer without pauses

Check your A/V: Exclude the Library from realtime scans(its contents will have been thru a folder that IS scanned eg Download), so no need to keep doing.

Check the health (S.M.A.R.T.) of your HD . Even new disks die.

Not happening here either.

I suspect its a 3rd party program that runs in the background, they often update themselves with you even knowing about it <grhhh>. So try disabling everything in Windows startup and rebooting. Also try running calibre after a minimal Safe Boot with no network.

Tip - rather than clicking on a cell to edit it, try using F2. And have a look at the different options for Preferences->Tweaks->Control behaviour of the book list->doubleclick_on_library_view. I have it set to 'do_nothing'.

Found it I think.

Sticky Password seems to have been the culprit - I guess looking for a field to add a password into in some manner. I have set the app to ignore calibre and no issues at the moment

Thanks all for your help - it pointed me in the right direction

I use Sticky Password and I've never had this problem.

I guess that you need to make sure that you have the latest update of Sticky Password. My version is 8.0.9.45.

I can't think of anything else. Other than contacting the Sticky Password folks.
