help need with the calibre 2.69

I just updated my calibre to 2.69 (after an year) and I am in complete mess. I was playing with some options to see what it does and messed it up. I need solutions for 2 problems.

1. I am using my android device and store all my ebooks in my sd card. And it keeps sorting with author LN, FN and I searched for an hour and did some of the advice but nothing works.

2. When I connect my device to the calibre and press the Card option. It has only few columns option. I need the timestamp option in there. How do i get it?

FYI - Please send me the details like to a non-tech person because I am completely lost with calibre.

Device view only has a few (standard) columns

change your template: {author_sort} to {authors} (assumes you show Fn Ln in the Authors column

BTW Updates should not have changed what was working

Calibre Companion is designed to integrate fully with Calibre. The Android version has been available for a long time. There is a free Demo version

I was playing with the "preferences" section and don't know what i did

P.S. I tried changing the path in both the "saving books to disk" and "sending books to device" . It only does it when i upload new ebook but all the old folders still appear as LN, FN.

I used {authors}/{series}/{series_index:0>2} {title}

What sort do you want that you're not getting?

Can you do a system restore to a point in time before you upgraded calibre? If you can do that then you could do the upgrade again and use abundant caution when setting preferences

I want the FN LN.

Check your metadata. Look to authors and authors sort. Normally I have in authors the schema [FN LN] and for authors sort [LN, FN]. Maybe you have it in opposite way.
If yes, change your template to author_sort

How do you do this? I tried it in Preference --> Metadata plugboards. But I don't see any changes.

When you mean change template, where exactly do you mean?

I changed it in Preference -->saving books to disk & sending books to devices

But it is only sorting it for the new books i am adding. All the old books in the sd card are sorted as LN, FN

You need first check your metadata. Maybe the problem came from there. Select one of the books in calibre and click on Edit Metadata (1). Then check the content for authors (2) and authors sort (3) as this is the basis for all other activities. If the data are correct (e.g. authors=Don Winslow and author sort=Winslow, Don) then the next step is to check your templates.

I already did this and it is in the correct form. Do I need to go inside "Template functions"?

Preferences settings are only the First (device) Use default.

[the easy way]
With the device connected: right click on the Device Icon (only there when connected): Configure

Preferences: Plugins: Device Interface plugins: <locate the correct one>: Customize plugin

It's official. I am getting headache in trying to find the solution. Why the heck did i start playing with the preference?

I did the device --> configuration. and some plugins--> device interface plugins. Change all the plugins i could and its still not working.

I have one more problem now. I am using 2 different tablet I use for reading ebooks. Now the other one has the same problem and it has the author- title- title- author format and I changed all the templates i could but still no luck. I don't want the author at the end. I used the same template I used for the other tablet.

This is annoying me. It's been 3 days and I hate the changes in my tablet

restore the configuration folder from a Backup ... You do have a Backup?
