Date column problem

I thought that the standard 'Date' column was supposed to contain the date that the book was added to the library. It seems to on import.

However if you then do a meta data update this date changes to the published date. Is this correct?

How can I revert to the date added rather than the date published date? If I can't revert how do I prevent the date change happening in the future?

Is there a way to add a custom date column that shows the date added if the above can't be done?

The Date column is loaded with the current date when the book is added.

But the Date is user modifiable. I clear it on new books and use it as my Date Read.

You need to find out what's changing it - maybe a PI, or a bulk S&R definition, or ...

No published date has its own column, titled "Published".
