That error means that the Sony driver is having problems opening the database on the device. You need to check that the device is connected and seen in Explorer and that the database is seen. The database is called "books.db" and is in the directory "Sony_Reader/database" in the device. Also make sure that the device hasn't been mounted read-only.
The timing for this report is disturbing as I had just responded to a similar error for a Kobo device. They are effectively the same error, with the difference in the error message because the Kobo driver uses apsw to read the SQLite database and the Sony driver uses sqlite3. As there are issues with the Win10 preview, I'm worried that MS has sent out an update that has broken access to these devices. Hopefully it's just a coincidence and me being paranoid. |

With the installation of Win10 I presume I need to get a driver for my Sony PRS-T1.
Excuse my lack of Computer knowledge. |

A Sony PRS-T1 should be mounted by Windows as a MSD using the drivers built into Windows. And calibre already has the driver built-in to handle this device. From the error, we can tell that Windows is mounting the device and that calibre can see it. But, calibre is having trouble reading the database on the device. When Win10 was first released, there were problems accessing some devices from some upgraded PCs. This was sorted by Kovid changing exactly how calibre detected the devices. The error you are seeing is not similar to that problem.
If this is a new machine, it is probably worthwhile to do the checks in My device is not detected by calibre. Hopefully something there will shine a lot on what is happening. |

That error is typically fixed by resetting the SONY reader.

I did a soft reset and got a couple of windows when I tried to connect again.
1. "Windows - Windows Security Your Internet Security settings prevented one or more files from being opened l:/Setup Reader for PC.exe" (Drive l: is a mystery to me) 2. "Calibre.exe No Disk There is no disk in the drive. Please insert into drive G" (USB) It is an old machine which I purchased new in 2011. Last edited by Nicko; 07-26-2016 at 11:46 PM. |

G is your SONY main memory? If you are getting no disk in drive errors that means windows is unable to connect to the SONY properly. Which likely means your SONY is failing.

Thanks for that sad news. Is there any way I can confirm this.? I guess I will have to purchase a new reader that will work with Calibre.

A hard reset/reformatting the drives might buy you some more time. But other than that -- the only solution is a new reader.

Nicko, are you using the Anniversary preview edition of Windows 10? If so, there may be nothing wrong with your Sony and it could be the fault of Windows 10.

How can I check if I have that edition of Windows.? I had some upgrades by a technician and he did a fresh install of Win10. Do you know if my PRS-T1 will work with Win10.? If it is a fault with Win10 I guess there is no way of knowing or fixing the fault.

This seems to be a Win10 problem, reports of multiple kobos and kindles not working with Win10 have been posted recently..
