Reading ebooks
I have used Calibre to convert ebooks for many years.
I would now like Calibre to be my main ebook reader, ie to be able to click on an ebook and to go straight to the book. However, at present the best I can get is that the book is added to the library and I press v to read it. Is there any way to bypass the library and the v? Many thanks. |

Do you mean you want the Calibre eBook viewer to launch any time you double click on a book file? If so set the Calibre viewer to be the default program for the file type.
Are you using Windows? If so right click on a book file and select Properties. Then click Opens With and Change then either select the Calibre viewer if it's listed or click more and browse to the viewer and select it as your default program. |

![]() @JosephWebber - for the record the viewer is XXX\Calibre2\ebook-viewer.exe, where XXX is the directory in which calibre is installed - normally C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (X86) BR |

However, on my and it seems AnemicOak's Windows 10, it's also in the General Tab of Properties. I wondered, seeing as I couldn't recall seeing it there before, if they added it there in Win 10 ! And for the record on my Windows 10 its also settable via the Open With shell context menu item, as it has been since... Maybe they dumb Windows 10 down for you Valley Dwellers ![]() BR |

W10 also presents a different view depending on how you come at it. (XP allowed the choice (grouping?) and stuck with it until changed) And, Yes, they are dumbing down operation of a computer, just like they are doing over at Google with Cars. ![]() |

'They' are dumbing down everything, they being - the MSM for sure, they being - large corporations for sure, they being mainstream political parties - for sure, they being 'the deep state' - probably. Orwell's 1984 is their operations manual.
