Amazon Prime can now be 4-5 days?

I just searched for CR123A batteries and almost all of what is returned ships in 4-5 days. I did choose to limit to Prime only. Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know how to exclude anything that's not 2 day shipping?

I hope more items aren't changed to be 4-5 day shipping. Prime is just not worth it to me without the 2 day shipping.

I misread your post.
But the first one should arrive on Weds.
Things ordered on weekends are rarely 2 days. Usually 3 or 4. I don't think they ship out on Saturday or Sunday.
Not sure if that is Amazon or the shipper.

Could this be due to federal shipping restrictions on lithium batteries? (meaning they ship ground the entire way)

I've received shipments on Saturdays, and even occasionally on Sundays. I think it depends on where the inventory is warehoused.

I think Brian might have the right of it - I ordered a car battery charger from Amazon and was notified that it 1) had to be shipped ground and 2) couldn't be returned because of Federal law.

I found one that arrives on Tuesday with two day shipping. What I would really like is to be able to exclude the 4-5 day Prime. You can exclude add on items, this new 4-5 day shipping should be able to be excluded as well.

Apparently there's a new program called Ship by Region. I live only 20 miles from Philly, so it's not like I live in the boonies.

Possibly, but I picked Prime for 2 day shipping, not 4-5 days.

I've gotten items delivered on Saturday and Sunday too.

Here in the UK, Prime shipping times in excess of our normal next day delivery generally indicate that the item is stored in a different country, and has to be shipped to the UK prior to delivery.

I've had a number of items that I bought prime that took 4-5 days to get here. I think they try to save money by using cheaper shipping methods. Sometimes they will use the USPS to do the final delivery. A couple of months ago, I ordered some earrings for my sister's birthday. I ordered on a Tuesday and it didn't get here until the following Monday. Since her birthday was on Sunday, that really didn't work well for me, so I shipped it back.

The sad part was I contacted Amazon on Friday (it was suppose to have arrived on Thursday) and was assured that it would get there that Saturday. I told the guy, look, it's being shipped UPS and they don't deliver on Saturday. Not to worry, I was told.

That is stupid: A CAR charger does not contain Li batteries (unless it is part of a battery bundle)

AFAIK the law is about multiple (eg case quantity) battery shipments. 1 battery failing next to another battery
You can ship a Kindle with a Li battery

However they ship it's still supposed to take two days. I get a lot of stuff shipped by USPS and it is only two days. That's what I pay for with Prime. That sucks what happened with your sister's birthday.

I would have called that device a Battery jump-Booster
We have a similar unit. It contains common Sealed Lead Acid cells (I did notice the datasheet does not specify, but considering the Li pack for my cordless drill is $95 with a lot less capacity, it probably is a SLA).

I said ship out not deliver.
I do not think UPS and Fed Ex pick up packages on the weekend.
The only packages I have seen shipped from Amazon on Saturday were not prime and we're sent via USPS.

Idea on why you seem to be finding 4-5 day shipping.
Check your local Amazon warehouse hours.
I know some places cannot work weekends or after a certain hour due to some regulations. Ran into that a couple of times in NYC.

Yes, I too have one. I'm an amateur astronomer, and use it to power all my equipment out in the field.
