Problems with Published Dates
Running:
Windows 7 SP1 Calibre 2.53 After importing an eBook into Calibre I fix the metadata. Usually it is just one or two eBooks so I wasn't sure if the eBooks were at fault or some Calibre setting changing the published date when imported. I just imported 10 new eBooks and everyone of them has the published date as Apr 2014. The year is correct but the month is wrong. This has been happening for awhile now. Whatever month I import the eBook is given for the published month. Year seems to be correct. It is just weird. Is there some setting in Calibre I need to fix? Some setting on my computer? Is there a way for me to check the metadata in an eBook before adding it to Calibre? Thanks for any help! |

Published comes from Metadata.
It could be within the book (initial entry in Calibre) or Later downloaded (updated in Calibre) This may be Site dependent (somewhat depending on how many Metadata Source PI are configured). If the same site supplies the Pubdate, there may be a scraping problem due to a site change. Yo need to figure where the wrong data comes from. 1) If it is bad in the book ++>Blame the Publisher 2) If it turns out all those WERE Apr2014 ++> Blame the Purchaser ![]() ![]() |

If you have Add Books configured to get metadata from the book format file then I'm pretty sure if a file a doesn't have a published date in its metadata then calibre will leave the pubdate/Published column empty.
Don't confuse calibre's date/Date column with DC's date element. The calibre Date column is initially set to the date/time the book was added to the library, in the opf it is written to the element calibre:timestamp. The pubdate/Published value is written into the dc:date element. BR |
