How to add a book from ebook viewer to library?

I use the ebook-viewer as defaultapp/previewer on windows to show downloaded ebooks. If I want to add the downloaded book to my library now I must select the book manually from my disc, because I won´t add any downloaded ebook.

Is there a way to add the opened book from the ebook-viewer directly into library per button or key?

@m.s - not directly, you could write a Viewer plugin to do what you want, or you could try this.

Copy the calibre shortcut from the desktop to the Windows Send to Folder, if there isn't a shortcut on the desktop, copy from Start Menu or create one in the Send To folder in the usual way.
  • click the Open File icon in the viewer, that will open a file open dialogue,
  • navigate to the book's location, eg in %USERPROFILE%\Downloads,
  • right click the book you want to add, select Send to->Calibre
  • hit escape to get out of the file open dialogue - continue reading
If you have multiple libraries, best to make sure calibre is running with the target library open before you do the Send to

Not from inside the viewer
Bur
Where the file (download) currently resides,
Right-click: Open with: Calibre

Thanks for the suggestions, but I my coding skills are not the best. If anyone has an example (script) how to get an extra button in the viewer, maybe I could take this as start for continuing development.

I only know of one Viewer plugin ==>> [Viewer Plugin] Text to Speech

Its 'experimental', so its not in the Plugin Index yet, most of it taken up with interfacing to the MS Speech Engine via SAPI. To see what's inside just unzip it. The plugins subforum has sticky threads with development guidelines for plugins.

Post any questions etc regarding the coding etc in the Development subforum.
