The Bands of Mourning ePub file size
If you have the ePub edition of The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson, what is the file size of your ePub version? I ask because a friend says there are two different versions and I disagree.

Are there different UK and US publishers? That could account for two versions.

I think I saw something from Brandon Sanderson about DRM that was originally included on a recent book (BoM or another) even though Sanderson didn't want that option included. If that is the case and assuming he has corrected it, maybe early/late versions of that book might be different sizes.
I am not able to find that quote right now and in reviewing it I was probably thinking about this quote (note "mistborn" is Brandon Sanderson's official account): Quote:

First, looking to the size of an EPUB is useless, as it's easily possible that someone has used a function such as Polish Book or Edit book, which can change the size of the flie. Also, there can be different editions.
Terry Pratchett: Discworld 1 - The Color of Magic Go to the page above. Click Look Inside, and then, seelct the Kindle tab. Close the Look Inside window. Select the Kindle box on the page, and then click Look Inside again. Select the Kindle tab. See a different book... even the order of the table of contents is different. (The one of the first book in this example is actually wrong, while the second is right, assuming that Wikipedia is right.) Same goes for The Light Fantastic. Therefore... which version would I actually get, if I decide to order the Kindle version? Last edited by Katsunami; 03-01-2016 at 02:11 PM. |

One version of The Color of Magic is with fake bonus material (preview of Snuff) and the other is without the extra fake bonus material. Personally, I'd go for the one without the fake bonus.

I don't really care about the bonus material, but the thing I wonder about is the different arrangement of te chapters: one version has both prologues in the beginning, the other version has a prologue+chapter, prologue+chapter, and two chapters again. According to Wikipedia, the latter is correct.
My version of the Color of Magic, which I bought years ago and never read (yeah, I'll sue myself... one day I'll come around to it....) had the wrong order. I used Sigil to rearrange the book at the time. My point is that there *can* be distinctly different versions sold as an e-book, even at the same time. (The correct one, in this case, is by Transworld, btw. The incorrect one, which I have and rearranged, is by HarperCollins.) As the preview shows different Kindle versions if you select different book versions (Kindle, Hardcover, Paperback, etc), I wonder which one you will receive if you order the Kindle book.
