I was using the builtin recipe for The Hindu newspaper, but there are few changes I feel that needs to be updated. I tried updating the source code but was not successful. So Kovid can you please help in implementing the below functionality:

1. In the omit list you have omitted news from all different states, and I tried to include 3 states of my liking. So I removed Karnataka, TamilNadu and Kerala from the omit list. And it worked and I started getting the news for that region.

But there is a catch in that: If a particular state is having news from 5 different districts, its only showing the news of first district shown, so rest of the district news are not shown. So kindly let me know what changes has to be done for this to work.

No idea, presumably you will need to find the URL for a page that lists the articles from the district of interest for you and add that to section_list in parse_index()

There is no separate URL for districts, but for states we have

Thanks Kovid, that worked. I have one more suggestion :

1. To add today's date in the book title so that we can track it in Kindle easily.

the kindle shows you the date fo periodicals automatically, send it to the kindle with usb and you will see it.

But I was using send to mail feature, in that its not showing date. So is there any workaround for that?

Change your output profile to something other than kindle, then the date is added to the title automatically.

That's interesting. What else does the kindle output profile actually do?

various things to the file internals to make them work witht he Kindle's "Periodical mode". Of course if you send the file via email/send to kindle, amazon destroys it be reformatting everything, since it wants you to buy your news through it.
