I have hundreds of books in my library and have installed a new SSD . I have reloaded all data but now I am getting a error message saying unable to load any of my Calibre records. I have tried deleting then reinstalling and reloading but same error message referring to a Metadata fault? (What is this) and will not allow access.
I very much a newbie and I am lost as to what to do to recover and use Calibre. Can anyone help? Please |

I have version 2.45. I have upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 and all is OK.
But I cannot upgrade to higher versions, instalation roll back due error, but I see no log about it. For versions 2.46 and 2.47 is the same. Win 10 are 64bit, Calibre is 32 bit. Any idea ? |

It's maybe one MS's tripwires that prevents users shooting themselves in the foot - it's always existed, but I think it's reset in Win7->Win10 upgrades. It's now its called Smartscreen Ψ²
See ==>> Open File - Security Warning : Unblock File - simplest way to check is to open the MSI file Properties and see if the Unblock button exists - if it does click it. Also see - How to disable Windows SmartScreen in Windows 10 BR |

Thanks for answer, problem is solved, but......
I have maked backup of settings Calibre from "roaming" and uninstaled version 2.45 and maked fresh instal. Unfortunally again instaler roll back before end and say error. The same situation as before. Now I have downloaded portable version, instaled, copy backup settings and all is OK, all plugins too. I tried instal a few another programs, ("exotic"), all is ok, Calibre no. Smartscreen I have off. Portable is good !!!!!! No need instalation. Thanks. |
