Very fine cracks in the case
I've had my Mini from new, bought in Oct 2012. I've just noticed in the last couple of days some very fine, hairline cracks in the case, near two of the screen corners. I'm reminded very much of the lines I started getting on my Kindle Keyboard back in the day, which was acknowledged as a fault by Amazon and was replaced.
Not that I think this is a fault per se, and it could be just wear and tear, but I wondered if anyone else has seen it on a Mini, or any Kobo of a similar age. My feeling is that perhaps the plastic they used becomes more brittle with age. Oh and yes, I have a case, no I haven't dropped it, but I do use it and I don't wrap it in cotton wool. I suppose it could be accidental damage but I'd expect large cracks from that I think. In any case, what I really want to know is if anyone's seen the same thing? Ta. |

I don't have a mini, but I have a Touch (4 years old)... and the case is in perfect order. No cracks or tears not even a bump.
But I think a different material was used for the casing, I'm not sure... |

I carry my mini in shirt pocket or loose front jeans pocket and have no cracks as you describe. KOBO Mlni has a screw in each corner hidden under back cover. They help improve rigidity but could cause your cracks if over tightened or if reader was racked/twisted some how. Dropped, while inserted, or removed from tight cover, maybe over tightened screws at factory or while replacing internal uSd card?

I did take the case off a year or more ago. I was going to try to put Linux on it. In the end I reverted to the normal firmware (since updated). I only noticed these lines the other day, I'm reasonably sure they weren't there when I replaced the case.

I have the older kobo with the 5 way button. There are no cracks but there are a bunch of small scratches in the case.
