Getting books to be recognised by Goodreads on Kindle

Hi there,

I read elsewhere on this forum that Calibre can be used to get books to be recognized on the Kindle as having a Goodreads link. At present I only get this for books I have purchased directly from Amazon rather than epubs I have converted and emailed in as a personal doc.

Can someone please walk me through how i can do this, and how I can check whether an existing item in ym library is already set up for this?

You contact a forum Moderator (list at bottom of main section)to get that (or any other thread change) done

The goodreads link depends on the exth 113 (ASIN)* meta field. calibre doesn't set those, but if you have he right Identifiers metadata (you need to make sure you have the amazon:xxxxxxxxxxxx identifier, or else asin:xxxxxxxxxxxx) then you can use the Quality Check plugin (Fix ==> Fix ASIN for Kindle Fire) to embed the ASIN.

* -- ASIN == Amazon Product ID.

Ah thanks. I'll look up that plugin. Does it work on Personal Documents, or does emailing it into Amazon trample on any ASIN I may have set?

Excellent question!

Yes, emailing to Amazon will trample (very apropos word) over any ASIN you set.

Thanks for confirming. I only ever email into Amazon as a personal document, so I'll just stick with things as they are.
