eBook pricing around the globe

I was surprised to find that the third book: Edge of Eternity in the The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett is priced so much higher in the U.S.

Amazon.uk: £3.49/$5.45 (publisher: Macmillan)
Amazon.us: $18.99/£12.16 (publisher: Penguin Group)

Here you have a price difference of: $13.54

I suspect that's a problem with the submission to Amazon and no one at Penquin noticed. Clearly it is not in line with the other books in the series and pricing the ebook higher than the paperback is just stupid...

If this is true I think it's a very sloppy work from Penguin, that will hurt the sale. I mean don't they check the books after they've been added to Amazon?

If you go to Penguin's site for Edge of Eternity you can actually see that the list price for the ebook is $18.99

Keep in mind that "Penguin" represents thousands of authors and have employees who execute with all levels of quality, just like any other large corporation.

Yes, it's likely sloppy work and no one has checked and corrected it... I would give them feedback...if I was interested in buying the book.

I don't think so. I've checked the links and none state anything about a deluxe edition.

Well this is funny. I checked Amazon for the Deluxe edition and it's priced slightly lower than the regular edition at $17.09

What are Penguin doing, seems crazy to me, or is it just sloppy work.

I thought Macmillan and Penguin were 2 different publishers?

They are separate companies. Penguin are owned by Random House.

Yes they are two different publishing companies. Looks like the US market is currently paying a premium price to get to read the latest Follett book.

There is no US paperback available. There is a UK paperback. So prices are as expected.

I just checked by curiosity. On Amazon.fr it's 6,05€ for the normal Kindle Edition... And the Deluxe version, which contains Audio, is also at 6,05€...
