Unsuccessful jailbreak Kindle DX Graphite

Hi everyone, I bought my Kindle DXG (Ver 2.5.8) with Duokan preinstalled by the seller(unsure if it is already jailbreaked, duokan can be installed without jailbreaking).

Without resetting the device to factory defaults, I attempted to jailbreak the device using kindle-jailbreak-0.7.N.zip. To be honest I have already forgotten the results (whether it is successful or not) and I proceeded with the install of launchpad, which has failed with the error code being U007. I believed that the jailbreak was unsuccessful and restored the system to factory defaults (without uninstalling Duokan OS).

After that, I attempted to jailbreak the device with various versions of the jailbreak zip file (0.1,0.7,0.4,1.1,1.2 and so on). To my dismay, all but the 0.4 version failed with the error code U007. Although the system notified me that the 0.4 version jailbreak was successful, I believed it has not succeeded as there are no new folders being created and all following attempts to install fonthack and launchpad have failed. From then on, I have tried various methods to jailbreak the device (including reinstalling the 2.5.8 OS from recovery mode), but to no avail.

However, after running the system integrity check (I have forgotten the exact wording), I realised that the system files may have been tampered as it prompted that the pubprodkey file (I have forgotten the exact wording, my apologies) was missing. I suspect that my situation is similiar with that of rsm (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=241907). I was unable to follow the instructions as I don't know how to manually uninstall the jailbreak.

Could someone shed some light on the issue? All help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

If it's been (stupidly) tampered with and you can't get shell access, you're most likely screwed.

On a sidenote, trying all the terribly outdated JB version sunder the sun was a terrible idea.

Can you specify which step went wrong? Actually for those outdated ones I tried the uninstall.bin, although I also used install.bin for some (not sure which ones).Frankly I have no idea how the system files have been tampered because I can only access non-system files (document etc). Thank you.

Please, please, please add some whitespace to your messages. It's damn near unreadable that way.

And, no, without more details on the original proceedings, and exact error messages on your part, we can't magically guess what went wrong.

But most likely the public keys are screwed, which is a catch-22 situation if you don't have shell access.

Can't see a single package install attempt in those logs. Either you're doing something wrong, or you got unlucky w/ the log rotation.

I'm sorry what do you mean by log rotation? Is is possible that the system denied the installation of jailbreaks because the device failed the system file integrity check ?

No, I mean the logs are 'rotated' (i.e., archived) at regular interval, and that the dump only dumps the non-archived parts (i.e., the most recent). If you're unlucky with the timing, the interesting bit ends up being archived, and not in the dump.

@NiLuJe: would duokan still work if the jb was removed?

With Duokan's JB certificate, which will not recognize our packages, only theirs.

We might want to thank Duokan for the efforts Amazon put into the 5.6.x series software.
I.E:
Not so much to stop us (the source of Duokan's jailbreaks) but to stop the Duokan project from introducing their own reader interface connected to their own store, rather than Amazon's store.
