Calibre for windows XP please

Is your computer running a processor that is capable of running Windows 8.1? If not, stick with Calibre 1.48 or buy a new computer.

The thing is, with a lot of computers that are running XP, they cannot run QT 5.x properly which is what Calibre 2.x uses. So if your computer is capable of running Windows 8.1, either move to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 and then you'll have no problem running Calibre 2.x.

Until/unless the Qt developers decide to fix Qt on WinXP, nothing can or will be done. I predict they will do so just as soon as Microsoft re-enables support for WinXP.

calibre 2.x uses Qt 5 which is known to be incompatible with Windows XP machines. If you are using Windows XP please, use calibre 1.48, which works with all Windows XP machines, from here. Simply un-install calibre 2.x and install 1.48, doing so will not affect your books/settings.

But in that case the OP was asking for calibre2.x specifically, Galactica sounds like s/he is okay with any version of calibre -- in which case running from modified source may not be necessary -- the latest version that works on XP should suit his/her needs.
