Non-English letters invisible

I noticed that some fonts in Kobo do not show Polish letters, like "ę" or "ć". Georgia is ok, but a few others (don't remember the names now) have space instead of the letter.

Is it the issue with ebook format/coding, or just font feature itself?

It's lack of glyphs in the fonts themselves. Just find some free fonts which do include all the Polish characters and copy them to your Kobo, then reboot. See this Sticky for more detail.

I can endorse Ubuntu as a font which is able to display lots of (european) characters. Maybe give this one a shot? If you test it with the Feature Peeker (floating around here in the forum) it seems to only fail in eastern languages. I do all my reading on it since I find it's really comfortable.

I've posted a little zip with (among others) ubuntu here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...78&postcount=8

Or you may want to download them for yourself (just rename them as per the sticky posted by jacky_w) - here: http://font.ubuntu.com/

Charis SIL is a great font to use when you need glyphs.
