Which ereaders meet my criteria?
I'm in the market for a new ereader. I haven't bought one in awhile and don't know what is out there now.
I am looking for: e-ink at least a 6" screen, good resolution. frontlight expandable memory easy to load sidebooks. under $200 Most, if not all of the books will be sideloaded via caliber. I don't care if it has wifi or not, in fact I doubt I would have a need for it. I just want to sideload books and read them. |

The current line of Aura e-book readers from Kobo has everything you're looking for. They start at $129.99. There's the Aura (6 inch and cheapest version), Aura HD and Aura H2O (which is waterproof).

You should check out the current crop of Kindles, as well as the offerings from Kobo.

The Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage meets all your criteria except expandable storage. The Kobo does meet all your criteria.
I have a Paperwhite and a Kobo Aura and the screen and frontlight on the Paperwhite are far superior. If I only had the Kobo I'd probably be happy enough with it but having both the differences are striking. I've heard that the other Kobo models have better screens so I'm only talking about the regular Aura. Barry |

In looking up stuff on Kobo I see they may be releasing a couple of new models. Maybe I will wait and see what they are like.

Where did you read about new models? Their top range model the Kobo Aura H2O is a new model, less than six months old. The standard 6" ereader, the Kobo Aura, has been out for over a year now and so there might be an update coming there but there's not been any news of it?
If expandable memory is a must and you therefore rule out a Kindle, the Aura H2O would be my choice. |

Yeah, I heard about that. Still a rumor, but is probably true, though who knows when. Kobo have a habit of releasing models in the spring, I think.
Of the current crop, the Glo has better contrast than the Aura (6"), but the Glo's light doesn't go as low (or so I hear). H20 is nice, but expensive with a case too. |

It's perhaps worth noting that you can store several thousand normal-size books on a Kindle with 4GB storage; unless you plan to store exceptionally large files such as page-scanned PDFs, external storage probably won't be necessary. I've owned several readers which offered external storage, but have never had a need to actually use it.

External storage is important for manga readers, I keep my manga there.

Certainly. That would be an example of "extremely large files" that I mentioned in my previous post. A typical ebook, though, is under half a MB in size, so the 3.5GB or so of available storage on a 4GB Kindle allows you to store many thousands of such books.
