Books not loading to Kindle Paperwhite

Hello all,

I have been using Calibre for three years and am now having a problem getting books to load onto my Kindle Paperwhite. The only ones that will load are .azw files from Amazon, no other files will load.

I select the books to load in Calibre, and click send to device. In Calibre I get the big check mark to show they are on device, but they are not showing on my Kindle. I have tried showing by books/recent, all items/recent, tried searching 'everywhere' on the Kindle and nothing shows.

I am at my wit's end with this and would appreciate any help and suggestions

Do you see the files on the Kindle drive, in the documents folder?

Yes the files are in the Kindle documents folder, they just don't show on the Kindle

Try deleting all the files that are invisible to the Kindle, and re-adding them a couple at a time.

The indexer can sometimes jam on a bad file, and refuse to find any more.
Once the bad file is removed, the Kindle will start seeing them again.

Adding a couple books at a time helps you narrow down which file is bad.

To sideload that one, you will have to reconvert it in calibre -- that usually fixes it.

It turned out the rogue book was one I'd downloaded direct from Amazon. The only way to get rid of it was a factory reset.

That is interesting, I don't think I have heard of Amazon sending broken ebooks before.

Well, the important thing is you fixed the problem.
