M92 stopped loading HTTPS pages

About a week ago, my M92 no longer loads SSL (https) pages.
No error, it simply does nothing, i.e. tries quickly and return to the 100% on the current page immediately.
I has worked fine for years prior to this.

Does anybody have an inkling as to what might be the cause of this?
Needles to say, I need this working.

I guess I could reinstall the software, but it would be nice if it cold be fixed with a less drastic solution.

Any thoughts?

maybe the ssl of the server side is out of date. i mean the certification.

If it does not work for any SSL pages and if factory reset and flash format do not help I would try to reinstall software using MFG tool: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...50_UPDATER.rar

It is for every SSL page that I have tried.
Factory reset and flash format did not do the trick, sadly.

I shall try your link a little later today and let you know how it went.

Oh, spiffing, a Windows app! I am using linux in the whole household.

hello booxtor, how to use mfg tool? l have now 20131204 firmware and l want reinstall original 20131129 artatech firmware...but not understand mfg tool.....thanks

I have tried a 'normal' update with the latest f/w, and although it did take, it still does not load https pages.

I then installed XP in VirtualBox and ran the update with MFGTool, but although it recognises the device, it errors out with:

Code:

Updater Error 0xffff0000 (-65536) -

In order to get out of this, I have to reset the m92, and start it again.
Needless to say that the https still does not work.

I need some help here, Booxtor. Soon!

I have dug a bit further:

It seems that the USB conx is changing name half-way through the process (from Freescale SemiConductor Inc. to Linux 2.6.35.3 with fsl-usb2-udc File Backed Storage Gadget).

When pre-enabling these two names for the VB machine, MFGTools crashes on this change-over.

It seems that, due to this name change, this cannot be done through a virtual machine?

So, having bought a linux based ereader - something that most definitely entered into my decision - I now find myself having to struggle with windows. Hardly fair. Is there really not another way???

Just to add to my grey hair... I found a friend that has a win7 laptop, tried it there, but the MFGTool crashes the minute I press the USB tab.

Not a good way to spend time... sigh...

Btw, am I the only one that has this https problem? Maybe I could ask someone with and older m92 and Booxtor's f/w to check?

The kubrick livecd for Kindles is based on a similar idea, no mfgtool which is windows-specific.

Now, that is good, thanks so much for that!

I am still no quite sure why I am doing this, when the 'normal' upgrade (to same f/w) did not help, but I shall give it a go and see if I can figure it out.

I happen to be very confused myself why makers of embedded devices seem to hate linux development so much.

Yeah, let's just go borrow a friend's computer (or struggle with a broken WinXP dual boot that hates me) so I can run a Windows-exclusive tool to flash linux to the device.

I still have not resolved this, but in the meantime...

Could I just ask someone with an M92 and booxtor's f/w to try e.g. https://duckduckgo.com/ to see if I am the only one with this issue?

There has been a lot of changes to SSL over the last half year, and I just got this thought that maybe the browser simply cannot keep up.

So... if someone wouldn't mind trying it, please?

Hello , I have a black pearl onyx boox m92 and since I installed the firmware booxtor 20131204 have problems in loading web pages . The site you posted my device will not load . I think if you try to look for from your device with google " Mbasic facebook " and to open the site will not load . I think the solution is to install the original firmware 20131129 but I do not understand how to use tools mfg . Hello .

Hm, that is strange, as SSL used to work - just a few weeks ago - with the latest firmware.
