Or a humanitarian. It's not that I consider purchasing or sales particularly worthy causes, but it does appear to be agonizing for many purchasers and salespeople simply because they don't know much about the product. Sometimes a knowledgable interjection can save a great deal of pain for both parties.

A few years ago I overheard a Chapters clerk tell a gentleman who had a Sony reader that he had to buy his ebooks at Sony, not through the Chapters website (they link to Kobo). I almost followed him out of the store to tell him how to do it, but thought that it might seem a little creepy.

Been there, done that. Didn't get a commission though I have kept in contact with the person who purchased the Kobo on that occasion.

I'd suspect that most of the people who have been around this forum for a while likely know more about Kobo's products than the average salesclerk or customer and are willing to pass that knowledge on.

Well,given the price difference you should be able to get most (if not all) the money for the H2O by selling the Voyage...

The only difficulty would be explaining the decision to the person who gave the gift. The Voyage looks like a really nice ereader, but the H2O allows for library borrowing (in Canada) and has a few perks that only I would be interested in.

I did the same thing today with a lady looking at a Kindle fire, headed her towards a Paperwhite and a proper tablet, not a Fire.

There is no point directing a lady who has a kindle (and is wanting to upgrade it) to a Kobo. I was nearly pointing out that as an 'ereader enthusiast' I happily answer questions from strangers. If I was in WHSmith and a lady spoke to me about Kobos I wouldn't tell her a Kindle was better.

The best ereader for someone is the one that suits their lifestyle.

I am enthusiastic about my Kobo but not to the point of losing objectivity. I love to use it to read epub books and the battery life is really great but if I want to say, read a comic on PDF I'll rather go for my Ipad as it handles it much better.
