Refurb'ed GLOs now at Kobo website, $79

Both new ($129, 2 colors) and "Ceritified Factory Refurbished" ($79, all four colors) Glos are available at the Kobo device website now. I checked a couple weeks ago, and they weren't offering any refurbs. (I'm shopping for my backup as the line apparently goes under).

What country do you need to be in to see the refurbished Glos, is it just Canada? (I can't see them from New Zealand.)

Not sure Geoff. I'm in Canada and as I said you have to go to Devices and then Browse All to see the refurbished offerings.

Google Search is the easiest way for me to find it. I just search for "refurbished kobo glo" (without the quotes) and it's the first "hit."

$79 would be tempting, depending on the postage cost, most of the second hand ones go for well over $100 here.

Well, crud. Do you know anyone in the U.S. who could act as your agent (buy the Kobo Glo on your behalf and send it to you)? If these are shipping out of Hong Kong anyhow, why wouldn't they offer refurbished Kobos in New Zealand? That's odd.

No refurbs in the UK either, but I'm pretty sure the Glo was £99.99 on Kobo UK last week and today its £79.99.

Just a note to interested parties: I love the white Kobo Glo. I find it superior to the black. Don't like the silver back...so I suggest the Blue or Pink. Though you won't ever see the back if you keep it in a case.

To me the screen seems whiter against the white bezel in most lighting. Plus the black bezel looks dingy by comparison.

So if you have a choice, do consider the white.

It is about $30 to ship from Canada to AUS/NZ and you would have to pay ~13% HST. Would that make it worth your while?

Thanks oj829 for posting this. I had been looking for a used glo locally with no luck.

You saved me $8. I have wanted to buy a case for my mini kobo but didn't want to pay the individual shipping. Added the mini case to my refurb order and both are shipping for free to the USA.

I have forwarding addresses in the US and UK, but the problem would come if I needed to return it, I would have to pay postage both ways if I used a forwarding address to buy it originally, and that would not be worthwhile.

In case anyone is looking for a cover for your refurbished glo, Powell's Books in the US is closing out their kobo glo sleepcovers in black for $9.99 US and free shipping. Very happy with the one I ordered. I expected it to be the cloth cover like the one on my mini but it's a fake leather. Looks nice, feels nice and wake mode works well. It's a shame Kobo is losing presence in the US. I miss walking into a Best Buy store and picking up Kobo gift cards.
