Default Cover

Hi, can anyone please tell me how to replace the default cover image generated by Calibre? I have searched and searched and tried every suggestion I can find and I still get only a wishy-washy pastel background with the title.

Appreciate any help.

Is it Download Metadata you want?

In the Edit Metadata screen, or alternatively using the shortcut key CTRL+D

Downloads the cover from various sources like Amazon and Google.
(Your book should've had a cover embedded already though?

)

Hi, no I've tried that. Some of my books have no cover embedded and search results in nothing and if I click 'generate cover' I just get a plain icky colour with the title. Help pages say I should be able to replace this option but I'm damned if I can find out how.

calibre's generated cover can be customized, in terms of what gets put on it. But it will never be anything fancy.

That said, in the Edit Metadata window, you can pull down on the button "Generate cover" to "Customize the styles and colors of the generated cover".

You might also be interested in the blank covers MiniMouse has created ==>> [Custom Covers] Blanks, Templates - get them, share them....

I use MiniMouse's blanks as the base of the custom covers that I create in the Generate Cover PI - slap a picture on the blank; then get the PI to write the title, author etc.

Yep. It's easy to make a cover using the plug in and the blanks that MiniMouse uploaded. I use them often. I found an example at Kobo that shows that not everyone does though. Kobo Sounds like the person who uploaded the book didn't do their homework here at MR.
