Selection for annotation when there is punctuation

Hi,
I'm sorry if this has been already posted (and answered) before, in such a case please link me to the appropriate post as I could not find it.
Here's my problem: everytime I try to select a word which has a punctuation sign next to it (i.e. , . ; etc) the selection ends up with both the word and the punctuation and it's very difficult to deselect the punctuation sign. This is very annoying and time consuming.
Is there a tip/workaround for that? Am I doing the selection in a wrong way?

Thank you very much.

I've noticed that but since my annotations are for editing, it doesn't matter to me as long as I have enough to search for in Sigil. Generally, I wait till the drag handles pop up and use those to fine tune my selection.

The other issue for me is the variable delay before the highlight dialogue pops up. About 80% of the time, it is almost instant but the other 20% of the time, it is very slow. Fairly often, I end up using the power button to sleep and wake my Aura HD as it is faster than waiting.

Select the word and following punctuation is always included. Wait, after a few seconds definition box will pop up with your selected word only without following punctuation. Definitions are correct for selected word. Kobo knows follow on punctuation is not part of word you selected. Stop trying to deselect punctuation because it is wasting time.

Yes, I know that. It's not a matter of definitions (dictionary) but ot doesn't work as expected for annotations. When I select a word with a punctuation next to it it ends up in the annotations box and that's weird. I need post filtering them out to have my notes clear (I mainly use them to improve my english vocabulary that's the reason why I'd like just to see the word by itself)
