How to add a list of empty books?

I have a large library in Delicious Library, representing physical books. I would like to export this library (perhaps only Author/title, but it could do some fancy mapping) as a comma delimited list and then be able to add a large number of empty books into Calibre by loading the list.

I suppose I could use the command line to write a script to do this...
calibredb add -e -a "author" -t "title" ...

... has anyone ever requested such a thing, or done such a thing?

You can import a list of ISBN numbers, in the dropdown under "Add books".

P.S. This is the Calibre Companion (android app) Wish List. Not calibre (desktop program).

I did something similar for my physical library which I had catalogued in an Excel spreadsheet, wrote a macro to create a command file that did the calibredb adds as you have it, including the ISBN where I had it.

If you can get a text file or a csv out of Delicious you should be able to massage it with a text editor to create a similar list of commands.

Or simply import the ISBN list, and use metadata download. Easier, although the metadata downloaded may not exactly match the metadata you already have. Because online sources of metadata sometimes do confusing things.

You can also use the Import List plugin. It will import lists from csv files or websites, and also from clipboard. You can match the books with entries already in your library or create empty books.
