How to store kindle
Hi
Is it absolutely necessary to have a kindle cover? My kindle paperwhite 2 rests at home. I keep it on the table wrapped in a cotton cloth and use it only in my bed. Please help. |

Is it sensible? Yes, it is. You may only use it in bed, but what if you falls asleep, it falls onto the floor, and you get out of bed the next morning and tread on it. I've done exactly that more than once! At the end of the day it is of course your choice. |

I keep mine in my back pocket with no case. I really should get a screen protector though since a scratched screen would drive me nuts though I scored mine from craigslist for $25 so I am not too worried about it

Think about your question:
You keep it at home resting in a cotton cloth. You do that because: 1) You want to protect it or 2) You have a very dirty house or 3) Your furniture is more valuable than the Kindle and you don't wish to get a scratch on your furniture. If you mainly use your Kindle at home, you should (in my opinion) get something where the Kindle can slide in and out of a sleeve, such as the one here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I own this and I use it for my Kindle or my Kobo Glo - depending on which reader I choose to have at my bedside. Five stars and 244 customer reviews. Not too bad for a product that's less than 10 dollars. If you will also be using your Kindle away from home (again, in my opinion), you will absolutely need something to protect your investment. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 07-25-2014 at 08:56 AM. |

I read my PW2 in bed also. But I've had it knocked to the floor from the bedside table twice while in that sleeve - by other people. Survived both times. |

Yes... and if you have cats as bratty as mine are, you'd never consider leaving your reader around naked!

I have used earlier Kindles without a cover or case and never had a problem. I would put it in a case to travel but other than that I didn't use one. However, since I got a PW2 and the Amazon case for it, I just leave it in the case.

Also, what HarryT says is true enough. You wouldn't be the first, nor the last person to drop a Kindle (or a remote control) when falling asleep... There is a proverb for saving €15 on a cover, only to destroy your €129 Kindle by accidentally dropping it: Penny wise, but pound foolish. |

I did get one scratched once when I lent it to someone and they gave it back with a big scratch on the screen. It was in a case, too. Barry |
