Can I buy an E-ink monitor?

The subject says it all. It doesn't need to be fast or have no refresh. I can even hack things up by modifying an e-reader screen. Though a think a 6-inch screen would be too small. It would be worth getting a Kindle DX if I could use that. Has it been done? Does it exist? I suspect I'm going to have to wait a bit.

Next year 10" and 13" e-ink readers will be quicker and better and probably have that mirroring capability or one for using external keyboard, at least those on Android.

Thanks. I knew about the Nook but not the Kindles. I might try and rig it up with the Nook, but it's a bit small. Still, I'll think about it. It makes sense syncing the two displays so I switch between the two depending on what I'm doing.

I wonder if there will be bigger screens next year...And if so, they will probably be very expensive.

I think it would be nuts to have an e-ink only display on a workstation. Consider a dual-mode screen, like that made by PixelQI, which is both LCD and e-ink. Dual-mode is rare, so I think pixelqi is the only real choice (there is the YotaPhone, but that's just a phone).

It's been 7 months, and there's my hope that the market has changed a little. Are there existing or upcoming Readers or other eink screens bigger than 6" that can be used as external monitors in any way? Cable, VNC/RDP, just console output, whatever, I don't care. But I need eink, and 6" won't do it.

The Onyx Boox M96 is 9.7" and runs Android, so you should be able to install a VNC client on it.

You can buy a 10" development kit .
Digikey sells them for $267, the part number is SZ102AS181-ND.
This is a 1024 x 1280 display. This display would make for a great ebook reader with two side by side panels.
Normally these devkits are easy to use and well documented.

For a smaller display, there are some posts on hackaday, where someone used a kindle as a display for a weather station.

I have a feeling that an e-ink monitor (I'm assuming for a PC?) would be such a niche product that would be obscenely expensive and unprofitable.
