Question New User

Good afternoon,

New to Calibre and this forum. Actually this is my first post.

I have a Nook HD and downloaded Calibre, just for an organizing tool, I know I can't use it on my Nook. Is there a way to download my files/books? I am reading and trying to understand the program,

Thanks for any and all help.

Someone else who is more familiar with the Nook will have to come by and give you more detailed and step-by-step information, but I believe with the Nook that you have to "sideload" books into and out of the Nook. I could be mistaken.

Welcome

You really need to explain the rig you are using with the nook.

Some hardware is incompatible with some (like MTP mode) devices
Some OS can't run modern releases of Calibe

Hello all,

Okay, someone told me how to get the eBooks into Calibre. Sorry I wasn't clear on what I wanted. I just am going to use it for record keeping of my eBooks. I love my Nook but hate the organization that it gives.

I have a Desktop running Window 7 and a Nook HD 8GB,

I don't have a Nook, but any MTP type device will not be a problem.

Evil DRM may be an issue, but we can't discuss details. For that Google Apprentice Alf.
(You can still 'document' books with DRM in Calibre, just not make changes to those with it)

A Nook user can help with where ON the Nook (or the Nook for PC app) to find the books so they can be imported into Calibre.

Hi theducks,

Got some books imported, actually me wife is helping. Another Nook user I know told me the trick. "Document" is a good term for what I want to do. I just want to know what books I have so I don't try buying them again or have a hole in a series. We have already figured out how to export the list into an Excel spreed sheet.

Thank you for the help.

Calibre has the 'Catalog' tool on the conversions icon.
Select CSV out for spreadsheets
or you can make it into a 'Book' (EPUB or Mobi)

The Quality Check Plugin has a 'Check Series Gaps' check.

I use the 'Import a list' PI to Match existing and create 'empty books' for series I am following.

formats:false shows the empties, then you can create a catalog of 'Empties'

Good afternoon Ducks,

Sorry it took a couple of days to get back to here, been having computer issues and had to rebuild my system. Luckily I backed up all my important files and such.

Will have to check out turning my catalog into an E-book, that will be a handy reference.

You mentioned "The Quality Check Plugin" where do I find it? I like the sound of this.

Again thank you for all your help and patience with me.
