Ok just got the nexus 7 2013. Got kindle app. Used calibre to put the ebook (in epub form) onto my device. I see it in the device\kindle folder on my device. but i cannot find the book once I am in the kindle app, its new so only one book is showing in kindle app now, it's one i got from amazon. Any ideas why i can't see the one calibre added?

You can't read ePub's with the Kindle App. Either convert to Mobi or AZW3 or use an ePub reading app (Mantano, Moon+, BlueFire, Aldiko, Cool Reader, FB Reader, etc.).

You could email it to your Kindle account (cloud), and then download it to your Kindle app.

I haven't tried it, as I don't like the kindle app. I use Moon+ Pro with Calibre Companion.

Ok so it looks like the files have to be in this folder on the nexus for the kindle app to see them.
Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files However, calibre is not allowed to look past the parent Android directory, so even manually pointing to the sub directory under config device in calibre still gets the book put in the Books folder. SO Ill just have ot push it to the books folder, then using windows explorer, C&P to the sub directory. |

This way, simply selecting the desire book from Calibre directly and "Send to device" to push the .mobi file to your nexus, or using the Content Server to pull the mobi file to your nexus you would not have to then manually move the file to the desired directory. I'd recommend checking out the Calibre Companion forum and FAQ here on mobileread. |

Put the mobi file on your device, click on it in the file manager and choose the Kindle app to open it.

You'd find life much easier if you left it as an epub and read it in Alkido on the Nexus 7. There's no point in "preferring" an application that doesn't do what you need!

Life is full of so many choices but people always want to box themselves in with just one choice! If people gave themselves a chance, they would discover just how flexible they can be when open to trying something new.
