Memory error during inserting <p></p>
Using calibre 1.35, and editing a large block of text (surrounded by just 1 single <p></p> tag) into smaller chunks, the insertion of a new <p></p> tag pair caused a memory failure. Calibre did not crash and I could continue. I had 15 page TABS open. I did an intermediate save. However, subsequent insertion of a next <p></p> tag pair caused the same error again and again.
Perhaps a side-effect of Bug #1314339? Last edited by DrChiper; 05-02-2014 at 07:41 AM. |

MemeoryError indicates you are out of RAM. It's possible that the changes I made to syntax highlighting are causing a memory leak, but I dont see it on my systems. Check your computers RAM status, is it out of memory?

This has nothing to do with my computer. Unfortunately, every other epub file I tried has the same problem. Try this file.

I wasn;t suggesting it had something to do with your computer, I was asking you to confirm that it is indeed an out of memory error (i.e. to look at the free memory of your comp when the error occurs).

I think I know what is causing this. It happens if you insert a tag at the start of a line that contains a colon by itself
So if you have text like "this is a sentence with a colon : by itself" and you insert a < at the start of the line, you will get a hang and eventually an out of memory error. |

Sorry, it took a while because microsoft insisted to install the famous IE bug fix
![]() Anyway, I restarted, selected the earlier provided epub and just inserted (after a full stop) "<". From that moment on book edit (calibre-parallel) started eating memory, but not everything as the "memory error" happend after some time while there was still memory left (see picture). I do not quite grasp what you mean with the ":" colon. My insert was somewhere in the text. Last edited by DrChiper; 05-02-2014 at 08:40 AM. |

Look in the text after the point where you inserted the "<". Is there a colon present? If there is, delete it and then insert the < and you should get no problems.

Confirmed. I Just tested several failing epubs and there are sometimes several ":" colons in those single text blocks.
Is this issue easily correctable? |
