Email Failure
I can't find a forum that deals with this, but I believe this one is the closest in subject.
I'm a long-time user (and contributor) to Calibre. Ordinarily, I download books to a file on my desktop then move them to Calibre where I have no problem sending them to my ancient Nook, my Samsung Tablet or even a little $50 WiFi tablet I bought my DH to use as a reader. I keep the original files. I recently changed computers, and although I backed up everything, several books have disappeared from the original file but are still in Calibre. I want to send them to a friend via email. I set up the email program in Calibre with my gmail account, but the emails, including the test, fail. I can't get back into the wizard screen to try to see if I messed anything up there. I did use the "Help" feature and printed out a huge list of commands, but I'm not a programmer, have forgotten everything I ever knew about DOS and have not even found the proper area to enter the code. This Deep South Texas Grandma could sure use some help. TIA |

Firewalls are the usual culprits. You need to tell it that calibre.exe is allowed to send stuff. Maybe there is a typo in your mail account info (if you had copied your calibre settings folder from your old system, these should still be good) |

Thank you for offering assistance.
I did not have email set up on my last computer. Everything came over beautifully. I did find the way to check the settings and my gmail address is spelled correctly. Perhaps my confusion lies in the two boxes: one says email name and the other has "@gmail.com" already typed in. I tried using it by leaving the second box as is and only putting the first part of my address without the @gmail.com in the first box. That did not work, so I added the full address to each box and that did not work, either. Perhaps if I try again and copy the failure response, that would help troubleshoot? I will try to do that later today. Thank you again. Your assistance means a lot to me. |

I did finally get it working. The test feature for an email does not work, however I was able to finally send books.
Thanks all for your help. |
