metadata does not change
hi, i have been using calibre for a while. read about the good reads plugin for metadata. was using ver .9 or something. installed goodreads plugin and restarted calibre. after that when i download metadata and select an option from the list, nothing happens. no change whatsoever is applied. deleted plugin and restarted calibre: no effect. installed most current version: no effect. i can edit all the metadata fields myself just fine. just no change from downloading metadata. worked perfectly prior to plugin install. whats wrong? thanks in advance

Are metadata actually being downloaded? Are your books matched? In order for calibre to download metadata the book has to b a matched with a book at the metadata source. If there are slight spelling errors in the name of the author or title, or if you have anything except the title in the title, then metadata download is likely to fail.
One way around this is to use the ISBN-plugin. It can scan inside a book for a ISBN-number, and that will be used to match the book, instead of the author and title. |

thanks for reply. yes metadata is found and downloaded. i select an option from the list that appears after matches are found and click next as i have always done. in the past, fields are filled and altered based upon the metadata that was found. now, nothing happens. and like i have stated. i have tried all the steps above to resolve this. whats the next step?

You can disable update of some fields during download. I can only assume that you by mistake have disabled update of all fields. Other than that, I don't know...
