I love my Kindle DX.

That's all. Just want to put that out there. I own a couple regular Kindles, a Nook HD+, a Cruz reader, and now my Kindle DX.

I'm afraid all the others will now be gathering dust. The DX is like reading a real book: no more hitting the turn page every ten seconds. I really like having a full page in front of me. The only thing I wish is that there were page turning buttons on each side like a regular Kindle, but that is picking at nits.

I received one for Christmas since the price had dropped so dramatically and they were now semi-reasonable. Love it, love it, love it.

Ya, I love my DXG as well. I bought the original DXG +3 years ago when it was ~$390 and the black cover ~$60. I bought another one as a backup a few months ago when it went down to $189 and black cover for $10.

I know the larger e-book readers are not for everyone but as far as I'm concerned the DXG is the best e-ink reader that Amazon has ever produced.

And, I gave mine away. It was awkward to carry around and I did not like the 3G-Only feature. That said, I do have to admit that I don't love inanimate objects. I know a lot of people do, though.

Yes, the DX-G is very nice to read on.

I, too, like the idea of reading on an eInk device that mimics reading on a hardback book.

I agree that Amazon should have least updated the firmware for KF8 and Panel View. I have contacted Kindle CS and they said that their TS guys would look into this because currently you cannot read some Kindle books (mainly comics, like Mad) on a DXG (or K2).

I love my DX too, except it's a tad too heavy.

I often wondered about e-reader manufacturers' fixation with 6" e-ink screen. A 7 to 8 inch reader would be so much better for reading. Kobo Aura HD has a 6.8" screen. While it is good, there's a huge space wasted for the bottom margin that it actually holds less text per screen, compared to Kindle paperwhite.

Probably sized to fit the average lady's purse, lol!

That has always been my thought too. And I find the smaller Kindles aggravating in that respect. It was one of the reasons I bought the Cruz e-reader: it has a decent sized screen. But the e-ink is so much easier to read, IMO anyway.

Yes, I wasn't too crazy about the 3G only with no WiFi, but I can still download with a USB cable so that makes it pretty much a non-issue in my mind. As long as I can get my books onto the DX I can get used to the no WiFi issue.

That case they underestimate the elasticity of a lady's bag. The ladies have been carrying standard 7" tablets without a problem.

i had no idea some content wasn't working. id take that right to the top if i were you. amazon have no excuses not to offer a working sofware upgrade for dx customers.

the real reason they dropped support for dxg was greed. most dx users sideload.

I have heard that the DX is better for studying diagrams in text books. What do you think about this?

Better than what? Probably better than any other smaller reader but not as good as the iPad. I would like to see a Kindle about the size of the DX with a screen like the PaperWhite 2.

I just purchased a used DX Graphite and leather case for $70. Everything appears to work and I've loaded books from Calibre onto it. The firmware is 2.5.5 and I understand that the latest firmware update is 2.5.8. Just wondering what the changes were and if I really need to update? Thanks.

I would like a Paperwhite DX. I'd scrimp. I'd save. I'd sell my children, if only I had any.
