[Solved] How come I am unable to download metadata and covers?

I download a block of e-books every day. For the past couple of days I have been unable to download metadata and covers, This has happened before but usually goes away after a day

Metadata is actually in the book file itself, so unless the book is not downloading, you should be getting the metadata. What device/app is this you are talking about?

What do you mean when you say that you "download a block of e-books every day"? Download from where? Using what?

Your plug-ins may not be functioning properly either due to a change you did accidentally or just because crap happens. Try reinstalling.

I downloaded and installed the latest update to Calibre 1.16 64bit. But when I tried to download metadata this is the error that I get:

@schmuck281 Looks like something is preventing calibre from accessing the web, check firewall and anti-virus settings

Another MR member had a similar problem recently - recent update to Avast anti-virus package appears to have been the problem, see https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...79&postcount=3
