How to speed up lazy opf writes

Is there any way to speed up the updating of the metadata changes to opf files. I sometimes have quite a long queue of 100's of updates that can take minutes to clear and I don't like to start backing up my library until they're complete.

I also wouldn't object if the number of outstanding updates showed in the status bar - maybe via a tweak.

There's a command you can use to cause calibre to do all backups immediately using the calibredb command, I leave finding out the exact command as an exercise for the reader.

I just popped it into my backup script. No need to wait, no need for tweak.
