Kindle for PC for Windows 8
Kindle for PC Windows 8 is an App. Does anyone know if the 'Tools' will work with this?
If not has anyone installed Kindle for PC for Windows 7/XP & Vista successfully on a Windows 8 machine? |

No, the "tools" don't work with it. Install "Kindle for PC", too. You can have both K4PC and the Win8 Kindle App installed on the same PC.

Thanks Harry. Didn't know if installing both would create any kind of problem. I take it that the Kindle App does not download the books into the same folder as the K4PC does, correct?

Correct. K4PC puts its books as separate files into "My Documents\My Kindle Content"; the Win8 App puts them into some kind of internal database somewhere I forget, but not under "My Documents". It doesn't store them as files.

covers are stored in \LocalState\covers. You might have a different extension after Windows8_, I suspect the stfe6ywa9jnbp is generated at the machine level. Books aren't stored in .mobi format - they're broken down into fragments |

Do you guys figure the reason why K4PC for Win 8 stores the files in such a weird way (split into different packages) is to discourage Calibre usage and the possibility of DRM removal, or could there be a different reason for it?
