e-Reader on the beach
So, I have been on the beach for a few days with my Kindle Keyboard and Sony T-1. The e-Ink screen look fantastic in bright sunlight, much much better than indoors. However, sand (the beach has very fine grain) seems to get on it no matter how careful I am. I can see the point of a screen guard when using it on the beach. I have to say the page buttons or touch screen doesn't make much difference, but I do worry about sand getting trapped between the page turn key and the bezel of the Kindle.
Is there any other solution than keeping it in a plastic bag? |

I would also worry about the speaker grills on the k3.

If I could not take my reader to the beach I would just stay home with it.

I think Saran wrap is a good thing to try.
Especially with the Kindle. |

Ziplock bag?
M-Edge has the Leisure cover http://www.medgestore.com/shop/kindle3/leisure for the Kindle Keyboard (they might also have one for the Sony' I didn't check). They advertise it as sand proof. |

Personally I have them in all sizes up to about about 12 inches by 18 inches. I wash the ones that had food in them and put loose items that should stay together but that the box they came in is too big or the large item is out being used. |

Here they come with white print of fish or meat or produce so you can differentiate the content inside the freezer.

I have a waterproof bag that I use for my K1. It works ok with my K3. I'll probably get a K3 waterproof cover before heading to the lake and river this summer. Might get one for my iPad as well, just to be safe.
I like reading and the beach is a great place to do it. May as well protect my device. And they keep the sand out. Heck, I was reading in the river two years ago. |

Is it a specialized bag for the Kindle? Are they easy to find?

Probably wouldn't work with the capacitive touch screen of the PW, would it?

Nope. The page specifically says K1-K3. Klear Kase might have something that works for the Fire which might work for the Paper White but I doubt it do to the size difference. They also have something for the K3, which I am going to buy for the extra protection provided by the case with the baby around and the water.
Sorry, he has a Kindle Keyboard so I was replying with that in mind. Last edited by ProfCrash; 06-07-2013 at 12:35 PM. |
