Crash when connecting to folder

Hi,

I try to connect to a folder on an external disk, but that never works. Sometimes I get a device error, sometimes Calibre just crashes with a runtime error, abnormal program termination. Moved the folder to my internal disk, without any imporvement. I have not been able to connect to a folder so far. Help...

Ok, blown off as invalid:

That's an out of memory error. This is caused either by having a very
large number of books in the folder, or by having a book with some
malformed metadata (like the entire book text in the comments field).
You can do one of several things:

1) If you are on a 64 bit computer run the 64 bit version of calibre, it
can use more memory
2) Delete teh files from the folder and copy them back in small batches
until you fond the book causing the problem.

status invalid
Well... Both comments are rather odd, because it's just my normal library I moved to an external disk. I was able to open it and use it the normal way. After moving it, I am just not able to connect to it any more... But I will serach for the 64bit version and have a go. Also, what is considered "a very large number of books" ??? 100? 1000? 10000? 100000?
