Problem sending Author_Sort data to Kindle2

Hi, I've been using Calibre for a while and have now decided to use some of it's excellent features to better manage Series, Author_sort etc.

Currently I have any series information in the title field eg Bond 01 - Casino Royale. I split the info into the correct fields (seperated title & series) & used the plugboard template {series}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title} from the sticky and this worked great

I had both author and author_sort as LN, FN so that on the Kindle it was sorted by LN. I changed all my authors to FN LN (but left author_sort as LN, FN) and now the Kindle is sorting by FN LN as expected.

So as per various posts on the forums I have tried the plugboards
mobi - Kindle2 - {author_sort:re(\, (.).*?( &|$),\, \1\2)} - authors
mobi - Kindle2 - {author_sort} - authors
mobi - Kindle2 - {author_sort} - author_sort
I have checked the box in Preferences>Output Options>MOBI Output to Use author sort for author, removed books, reconverted & resent to device

So far nothing I have tried has any effect on the display or sorting of the authors on the Kindle - which is confusing especially since the title/series plugboard worked first try.

Please does anyone have any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

There should be no need to use a plugboard for this. Just set the use author sort as author checkbox and delete the files offf your Kindle, then re-send them.

Thanx for replying - I had done that but still nothing happened. I checked the mobi metadata and the authors were actually still in LN, FN format from my original naming convention.

I found an old post which mentioned the Kindle possibly caching the metadata info and to make sure to Restart it before resending files.

Tried this with one of my collections and it seemed to work - so I will now remove all books, restart the kindle & resend them - fingers crossed

So last night removed all books from Kindle > Restarted Kindle > Resent all books

= Success

I now have Authors visible as FN LN - sorted by LN, FN - inside Collections (using plugin) - with series data where it should be (using plugboard to display in title on Kindle)
