Found a problem others might have seen...
The Problem on the Touch;
You sync new material to your Touch, and when you try to open the book, it keeps going back to the title page and does not 'open' any further. What I have found to cause this situation, is where you might have a preview of a book on your device. You then (for example) decide to purchase this book from either your Vox, or from the Library app on your desktop or laptop. So, you do so...and then at some point Sync your Touch. Well, what is happening...is that the present software on your Touch is not either: 1. Completely erasing the preview file BEFORE applying the true, full book file of what you have just purchased from your preview list and/or 2. The Touch software is not properly, and completely overwriting the preview file so as to now have the fully accessible book for you to open and view from start to finish. What you seem to be getting is a now corrupted overwrite of the preview file of the book with double page entry. So...the Touch accesses this corrupted file and can not open past the book cover and or title screen. It keeps cycling the first page! The Solution: I found that until Kobo fixes this in the present v.16 firmware, you need to either completely DELETE any preview file of the book you are now thinking of purchasing, and then after it is off the Touch, make your purchase and sync. If you have already been bitten by this bug, you can DELETE the corrupted book file from off of the Touch, sign into your Kobo account, go to your Purchased section and finding the book you just purchased, BOOKMARK that book(s) and then sign out of your account. Sync your Touch once more by either wi-fi or connected via USB to your desktop/laptop. This will once more download the book(s) but will not attempt to overwrite the preview file (for it will not be there---you deleted it..) and you will now have a non corrupted file to read,open, and and enjoy. In fact, any book or magazine that does not open or behave properly, can be made to tow the line by the above procedure at any time. I hope this helps! ![]() |
