AVI sound codecs?

My .AVI videos from a Casio camera play the video fine but there is no sound unless I upload them to youtube which of course does a conversion.

No matter what player app I use it doesn't seem to matter, no sound

Edit: the .MOV files from my Canon DSLR play fine with sound however.

You tried vlc? What audio codec is it? (on windows, you can use gspot to figure this out)

VLC won't even play the videos. I'll have to look for gspot (pun...)

I don't have any problems with .avi videos using gallery (have played some from my video camera and web downloads).

That's strange...hopefully this doesn't mean sound is buggy for .avi playback on the Vox...

Probably missing Codec for my Casio rather than a bug. Other Avi files might work.

Gallery is just a Gui shell, it doesn't play the movies. The Avi files show no preview still either but my Canon mov files show preview and sound work.

Vlc on my win7 laptop works with sound on these avi files, grumble... but Vlc app does say it is alpha. Newer version? Check sourceforge I guess.
