Garbled .TXT documents
I don't think this is an issue with Sony devices specifically, as I get the same garbled formatting opening up my text files (.txt) in other applications beside Windows Notepad.
In Notepad, the text looks great, and the paragraph structure is intact, and the document is readable. If I try to read this text on my Sony Reader (PRS-350) or in, say, Microsoft Word, the text is garbled with odd line spacing, and often one word per sentence. Why is this? ![]() |

Notepad doesn't recognize some line endings. Programs like Word or Wordpad do, so they will show up there. It sounds like the file you have has many such line endings where they are not wanted. If the text looks fine in Notepad, open and immediately save it. This will remove said line endings, and allow you to do further editing in Word.
An alternative would be to look up the appropriate line ending code in Word, and then perform a replace all command, but that'd probably be more work (I don't know the code by heart myself). |
