Ghost images on e-ink side
I have had my EE for about 1 month and I have noticed ghost images on the e-ink side several times. I'm using it for textbooks which require a lot of zooming and panning around. This happens most frequently when I click on the View menu on the bottom bar, and then click on "Fit to Page". Most of the time it will leave a portion of the text and the original zoomed in level while the rest of the page will appear normal. Sometimes, the ghost image will be of the last book I had open or the splash screen. Clicking refresh always fixes this so it seems like maybe the firmware needs to wait a bit longer to refresh after zooming or do a double refresh when zooming?
Anyone else having this problem? |

This I believe is an artifact of eInk, which is actually an emulsion of fine particles in an oil - i.e., these aren't little lights that blink on and off like the LCD screen. As a result, you'll sometimes get ghosting, although enTourage has been tweaking their code to proactively eliminate it.
If you see ghosting, simple click the Refresh tool at the top of the screen. |

I never had any ghosting (coming up on a year of ownership like the other pre-orderers) until I ran the last software update. Could be a coincidence, could not. Immediately after the update, I now do get a lot of ghosting, but it always removes perfectly with the refresh button. Could anything in the latest update have caused this? I know it could just be a year old machine, and it's not a problem because it clears up. It's just curious that it coincided exactly with my software update.

Interesting. Alright, I'll recalibrate. Haven't done that in a while anyway. Thanks!

I have been having that odd ghostin problem more and more lately. Parts of the previous book are showing in the pop up boxes for the menu bar.

That's why I requested a feature to have the menu moved/copied to the lcd screen. It would make using the manu way faster, remove any ghosting issues caused by the menu and would result in more viewing space on the eink side. Win win win. They would consider it, or so I was told.

That's a great idea. I sometimes find myself coveting the space at the bottom for annotations.

Did recalibrating work for you? I'm wondering if doing so becomes less effective each time you do it? |

I noticed a bit of a ghost image today for the first time. When the page refreshed, it disappeared and I thought perhaps my eyes were playing with me. I noticed it as I opened one of my journals and there was a ghost image of my wallpaper which has a lot of dark grey and black in it. I am wondering if I should perhaps switch to a wallpaper image that doesn't have as much 'pigment'...
