i need some advice before tomorrow please

hi entourage & pocket edge owners. i'm kind of in a dilema, i bouight the PE from HSN & it has to be postmarked by tomorrow before midnight, if i'm going to send it back that is, my dilema is i really like the PE eventhough i really don't need it for annotating & things that a student would really use it for. i just don't want to be stuck with it if it's going to be more or less outdated soon & no 2.2 froyo update. i paid $545.00 for it which i really don't mind but i just don't know if it's worth keeping. i find it strange that entourage didn't put no notice out about the 1.13 update on the forum. so many of the forum users know so much about using it & i'm still trying to figure it out. to be honest i'm not such a book worm, & i certainly don't know much about the android system. i just liked the things it could do if i wanted to use it that way & how it looked when it was presented. any input would be greatly appreciated. i really love this forum & all of the help everyone contributes, i just don't know if a tablet is more my speed, an updated one that is which there are ones with the 2.2 system. tia

Goldie, that is such a hard question to answer for someone else. We can't say for sure no Froyo update, Entourage has not said anything to indicate it won't happen, they just have not said when. Any tech is bound to outdated in a year, there will always be something newer and better. You do not need to know much about Android to use it and for tablets you have 3 choices Apple iPad, Android or a very expensive, not yet released Windows version.

You've already bought this one. If you like it, even without the update that so many are 'griping' about, then keep it. I would say if you wanted to return it to get one at a cheaper price, which there are options like: http://www.provantage.com/entourage-...k~4ENTO005.htm then that would be a good choice. But if you don't mind the price that you paid and you like the product, it seems common sense to me that you would just keep it =) Hope this helped.

I think you should consider the device that you hold in your hands. If you like it and find it useful, then keep it. Buying any tech product with the expectation of an upgrade will only lead to disappointment and frustration. We expect Froyo (Android 2.2) which will allow us to use Flash, and apparently is faster. But we dont know when it will be available (a message on this forum about 3 weeks ago said it was "weeks away"). There are many options out there right now, which include the eDGe. Pick the one that suits you best and go with it.

Just as an aside, I would add that there are several Windows 7 tablets shipping now including the HP tablet (about $800), the ASUS EEE 121 ($969 or $1099) which just came out, and the EXOPC slate ($699)...and others.

Furthermore some UN-released, but supposedly soon-to-be-released devices include the Notion Ink Adam (its own proprietary OS, I think), the Motorola Xoom (Android 3.0) and the RIM Playbook (which seems to me worthwhile only if you are a Blackberry user since there is such tight integration).

i want to thank all of you for your input. i know technology changes so fast & you would probably be owning tons of gadgets if you tried to kept up with it all. i don't expect the PE to be updated forever, it's just that it started out with such an old version, well maybe it wasn't old at the time it came out. i'm just learning all of this from the forum & the shopping networks i watch. infact the HSN customers were saying that the EE & PE had an old version, my main concern was not buying an item that was outdated before its time. i love all of the features of the PE, besides loving this forum. not a day goes by that i'm not on this forum going through the posts. i just don't want to seem like a pain in the neck asking ?'s all of the time, even though this is a wonderful group of people here. well i guess i'm going to keep it because i really do like it. what the hec, you only live once!! thanks again.

Hey Goldy, I bought mine from HSN as well. I had to put a lot of time into reading the forums and figuring this device out. But, I am glad that I kept it.

Hi Goldy,
You are NOT a pain in the neck, "asking questions all the time". That is what the Forum is for, and we enjoy helping one another out.
I'm glad that you've decided to keep the device, as it seems you really enjoy it. I anticipate that as more apps become available and as the functionality of the eInk side is improved, you may find many more uses for the PE than you initially (or currently) expect. Again, please ask any questions you have of us... we've all done it, and we'll all continue to do it.

goodspeech i'm glad you kept it also. it really is a dynamite device, there's so many things you can do with it. Dr. T, thank you so much for the kind words & support that you & others are so willing to give. i've been on quite a few forums but i must say this is one of the nicest & well managed ones. now to figure out how to get my music that i purchased from entourage onto my computer. i'm sure this is going to be a challange for me, but i'll give it a try. thanks again!!

Good choice, goldy319. And like the rest of the people said, this forum is for asking questions. I ask lots and there are an abundance of people on this forum that are willing to help. Keep asking. No one will be annoyed (when I first got my PE, I had to ask how I knew it was charging!) =)
