Nook color just reset itself

So I was playing with the new 1.2 update today and decided to change my background. Hooked up the nook to my computer and nook immediately wiped the data and reset it self back to stock.

Not good.

Since I had an SD card with my important stuff, I wasn't worried. Tried re-registering and kept getting an error. A call to my store revealed that something has gone wrong in the nook network land. Maybe it was a crash, no one knows yet.

Now the nook won't register because of a 'lost network connection'. So just an FYI out there if anyone has a nook that just reset itself: they're trying to figure out what happened, no need to panic yet.

Yes, thanks... mine is doing the same thing as we speak... er, type. It's presently stuck on the WiFi selection screen (and the continue button is greyed out, so you can't move past it).

Nice to know that... well, they know there's a problem...

Mine too.

Mine is doing the same thing. Reset by itself and won't allow me to re-register. It's stuck at the network connection and is saying that it's a network-related problem. Glad you posted this, I'm frustrated and vacillating back and forth between biting the bullet and going out to get an ipad. I'm a little disappointed with the software update as is.

Someone else posted at another forum that B&N support said they were performing "routine maintenance" on their servers. Apparently someone unplugged something they shouldn't oughta and all the Nook Colors (I think at least those attached to wifi) have reset. And since the servers are down, or maybe because everyone's trying to get in at once, we can't access the servers to set it up again. What a mess.

Support suggested give it an hour or so and try again.

Considering how this happens on the store level servers at least once a year (or for my store, ever 3 months, including yesterday), not shocked. They need to stop hitting the shiny buttons so much. :P

This has happened to me also. Does anyone know if this means all of my stuff has been deleted or is it just a reset and once its registered everything will be back to how it was before this little issue?

No idea. My guess is, since it seems to have completely reset back to factory, shelves and log in info is gone. :/

Case in point: We should be able to automatically create and place books on shelves using a computer. The manual thing is not good. I'm sorry many will have to deal with recreating and populating their shelves.

Agreed. The reason they don't is they want each nook to have it's own set of shelves in case there are multiple nooks on one account. I see no reason why they can't allow access to the nooks individually through nookPC or Mac. Give them names, make it the same password protection if they have that, and allow users to make shelves off the nook. That would be SO much easier.

Nope still down. From what I've read on other forums it could be up to 24 hours before we get our nooks back. Its going to suck having to put all of my books back on. I had already started using some of the apps and if it truly reset I lost a lot of notes and things I put in the calendar just last night.
