Best e-reader for textbooks
Hi I am mainly looking for a ereader for two purposes, I would like to have the ability to read pdf copies of textbooks while I am on the bus and for casual reading. Obviously most ereaders would work for casual reading so the deciding factor for my purchase would be its ability to handle textbooks. My copies of textbooks are all pdfs (some are legitimate while some are not) the ability to highlight and annotate it would also be amazing. So if you guys have any advice on which ereader would be the best for this it would be much appreciated

SONY PRS-650
I'm a student myself so have to use the ereader for textbooks. I'm using Sony PRS-650 (Daily Edition) and I absolutely love it. Making notes and highlighting is really easy, the screen is quite responsive (unlike other ereaders I've tried).
![]() Also, I read you can export the notes to your pc, although I never tried - no need to as I like keeping it all in one. ![]() |

The Kindle DX is definitely the best reader for PDF documents i have tried so far. Books, journal papers... Works perfectly as long as you don't want it to do something it was not meant to do like notes, or highlights.
Besides, the screen size is the biggest of the readers i have tried so a full A4 page is perfectly readable in the DX, something that did not happen with smaller readers. |

Don't waste your money on an e-reader. Get a netbook with a 10" screen or a tablet. You're better off the extra capabilities.

Agreed with Salgueiros the Kindle DX is good for this but the Bookeen also does well at this.
