Getting TOCs at front of Kindle book?
We're almost done our Kindle book but there's one last thing we can't figure out.
The TOCs have been created in an xhtml version and that's been placed early in the spine. Despite this, when using Calibre to go from ePub to .mobi the xhtml version of the TOCs is always placed at the end of the document. In short: we can't get our TOC file to appear at the start of the book. Can anyone help? |

If you are using Sigil to edit the epub, right-click on the toc xhtml file and select "Add Semantics > Table of Contents" then save the epub. Calibre should detect that a toc is already present in the epub and use it as the mobi toc, leaving it in its designed position.

Bonex, we tried your suggestion and indeed, we now have the TOCs at the front but now the TOC option in the "go to" menu section is greyed out.
Giggleton, you're right. Calibre isn't the best. We know that now... for the next book we'll be smarter! |
