Problems with flies

Has anyone else had a problem with flies and their touch screen 650? The other day I had a few persistent little fruit flies kept landing on the screen and walking around. They kept changing my page and even calling up the dictionary. Hate to think what a blowie would do.

We get a lot of flies here in Australia and it could really affect my outdoor reading.

I just found this an amusing experience. I mostly read indoors anyway. Melanoma rates are high here.

Try attaching one of those little handheld fans to your reader - just be careful not to point it at the screen.

Thinking about it, this could be a whole new sales opportunity - fame and wealth beckon

That is hilarious, I assumed that "flies" in the subject line was a typo for "files."

Maybe we have stumbled on a new market for ereaders. Imagine all those poor flies who can't open a pbook. Now they can read to their hearts' content.

The Sony X50 series is also perfect for those animals that have wanted to read but could never hit buttons cleanly.

I thought this was pretty funny, so I E-mailed the link to a friend. It turns out that he has the same problem with his phone. He got a Soda Stream for Christmas, and makes his own soda syrups for it using all kinds of fruit flavours. The recipes are on his phone, so he's been rubbing fruit essences on the touch screen, which are attracting the fruit flies. So I guess this thread ties in with the "Do You Snack While Reading" one.

I like to sit outside and read and on occasion will also smoke a cigar while reading. Once I had a small amount of ash fall onto the bottom edge of the 350 screen and it went into rapid fire page turning mode. it took me a moment to figure out what had happened and required a quick breath of air to blow away the ash.

I've also noticed that loose fitting shirts occasionally tap the screen and cause page turns.

Maybe you read too many syrupy romances! If it was a regular fly, I would say you need to move up from those crappy stories!

I was intrigued with the same problem until I realized I would have to go hunting for the last page I had read.

On a positive note--It doesn't take a heavy hand or a firm finger poke to get the screen to respond. I let a friend try out my 650 and I was afraid he was way too rough with it.
