can publishers join in the fun?

I've just discovered MobileRead and the Kindle Boards from Amanda Hocking's blog. It is exciting news that an author can self-publish primarily via ebooks and literally make more than a million dollars in less than a year.

I'm actually a publisher. I've been formatting and uploading ebooks to Amazon Kindle for a couple of years. I've spent quite a bit of time at the DTP forums, but have been so covered up with projects I have not discovered the various forums that the Internet has to offer readers and writers.

I see a number of Indie authors here. I hope publishers can also join in the fun.

I don't think publishers are banned, Lida (though we come in for some stick at times). I'm a partner in a small indie publishing company and have felt warmly welcome and comfortable at MR over the past couple of years.

A bonus is that, no matter how long you've been in the biz (I've been a pro writer and editor for forty-five years), there's always so much to learn here and some amazing thoughts and ideas generously offered by members that really fire up the old brain cells. Good fun folks at MR.

I think Linda that you can add something important to the discussion on these forums. You can add a publisher's perspective on some of the debates.
